How accurate are dating scans at 16 weeks

My husband and I were thrilled because we REALLY want a girl! However, today at my normal doctor's visit, I was told those scans can be wrong this early on because sometimes male babies don't develop until later.

Your midwife or doctor will book you a dating scan appointment.

It will usually take place at your local hospital ultrasound department.

I hope that I was able to adequately answer your question today, and that my advice was helpful.

All pregnant women are offered an ultrasound scan at around 8-14 weeks of pregnancy. It's used to see how far along in your pregnancy you are and check your baby's development.

Hi I need to know how acurate 3 dating scans are as a measure of paternity. Estimating your date of conception is only really possible for women who have a 28 day menstrual cycle.

I know I need to do a dna test but all three scans perfromed at 12, 16 and 20 weeks have provided the same due date and therefore the same conception date and I was with the suppossed father that day. By convention, the computer programs that are used to calculate your due date are working from an assumption that a woman has a 28 day cycle, and that conception took place exactly 2 weeks after your last period.

This depends on whether you have agreed to have the screening and when the scan takes place.

Screening for Down's syndrome will happen at the dating scan if: The screening test for Down's syndrome used at this stage of pregnancy is called the combined test.
